The focus of our work is to find parents for children who need a new family of their own. The children concerned are often in foster homes waiting for new parents. Another aspect of our work that may be offered by the team of professional Social Workers is the support and counselling of pregnant women and their partners who are unsure about the future of their baby. This support may also include practical help such as finding accommodation and helping to sort out financial difficulties.

-The purpose of this counselling is to enable parents to come to an informed decision about the future of their baby. If the parents decide that adoption through ‘Families for Children' is the most appropriate option then our Social Workers will support them and encourage them to play a full part in the selection of prospective adopters for their child so that their wishes can be taken into account. They may be given an opportunity to meet the adoptive couple if they wish.

We work closely with all Local Authorities who are seeking permanent new families for children and through the development of our work in Devon, Dorset and Cornwall, we have a particular concern for children in those areas.

Our agency offers considerable support to families who offer homes to children. This support is available as long as it is needed.
